Breech plugs are still available from Knight. The removal tool was for early MKs that had a slotted breech plug. The later ones were 7/16" hex head. The early 54s I believe were 5/8" x 18 tpi, the later were11/16" x 20 tpi.A new reversible USB plug is likely to hit the market next year. The one on the left is an older style. I would agree - right plug is the older type - the good news either plug will work in both rifles.

It was made out of 17/4 stainless with a removable vent and really made the guns a lot cleaner to shoot. It fit some others like the Super Disc and also the LRH. I've tried various weigts and types of Barnes, Hornady,, TC and Harvester. bullets.Have a Knight with a slotted breech plug and no Combination tool. The nipple is for #11 percussion cap and is not hex, it has 2 flat sides. I removed the breech plug with a drift punch and careful taps. The slots are in good condition. I did not try to remove the nipple because the nipple and plug looks like it might be one piece. ….
